The campus AI intelligent robot "Dong Dong Niu" has arrived! To create a comprehensive smart campus service, Tunghai University utilizes Microsoft Azure OpenAI as the foundation, integrating both the Microsoft Teams and Line Bot platforms to develop the "Dong Dong Niu" intelligent robot. It provides GPT-4 premium support for all faculty and students, addressing teaching and research questions to meet the diverse exploration needs across various fields.

Tunghai University held the "Dong Dong Niu Generative AI Presentation Ceremony" on December 21st, 2023. Witnessed by Tunghai University President Chang Kuo-En and Taiwan Microsoft Public Sector General Manager Chen Shou-Zheng, it was announced that starting from the 112th academic year, Tunghai officially launched the "Dong Dong Niu" intelligent robot built on Microsoft Azure OpenAI. Tunghai University stated that Azure OpenAI not only possesses the capabilities of the ChatGPT brain but can also leverage Azure's unique AI services. "Dong Dong Niu" integrates ChatGPT with the campus database and combines the Microsoft Teams and Line Bot platforms to provide a comprehensive smart campus service. The former offers GPT-4 quality support to the entire school, answering teaching and research questions to meet exploration needs across various fields. The latter provides real-time administrative processes, campus activities, course schedules, and campus resource information.

 

President Chang Kuo-En expressed that Tunghai has always been committed to promoting AI education, particularly emphasizing the integration of this field into the curriculum. Currently, it actively utilizes generative AI in the freshman Chinese course to cultivate students' systematic thinking, reasoning ability, and communication skills. In the process of introducing "Dong Dong Niu," technical support from Taiwan Microsoft was obtained, transforming complex tools into easily accessible applications. This transformation not only allows everyone to use it effortlessly but also enables us to more effectively integrate AI into the educational environment.

Microsoft General Manager Chen Shou-Zheng stated that the cooperation between Microsoft and the university has undergone many years of evolution, transitioning from software technology to the current deep collaboration, witnessing the mutual progress and changes. In recent years, Microsoft has focused on exploring three major areas: AI applications, sustainable development, and information security. Earlier this year, Microsoft and the Ministry of Education collaborated to launch the world's first AI English teaching platform, and with Copilot technology, they supported schools in their research, receiving enthusiastic support and feedback from many schools.

 

Dr. Yang Chao-Tung, the dean of Library and Information Services at Tunghai University, pointed out that in this era filled with intelligence and innovation, Tunghai University is leading the academic community towards a more intelligent future.
